A brave dad who lost a leg in a terrifying shark attack has returned to the ocean – just months after the horrific savaging. Glenn Dickson nearly died after being mauled by the three-and-a-half metre bull shark while spearfishing of the coast of North Queensland, Australia in February.

Now just seven months on, the 25-year-old father of three has revealed he has finally returned to the place he feels most at home.

Speaking to Channel 9’s 60 Minutes, he relived his horrific ordeal and spoke of his amazing recovery.

“You can’t stop living life just because you get knocked down,” he said. “You’ve gotta get back up and keep trying and I love the ocean.”

Glenn said he was “as close as you can get” to dying after his ordeal.

By the time he arrived at the hospital, it had been four hours since the attack as he needed to take a boat and flight to reach the nearest emergency medical help.

Glenn was spearfishing with three friends when he was mauled by the shark.

Pals Peter Kosica, Aaron Butler and former US Navy diver Rick Bettua, pulled him into the boat after they realised he’d been bitten.

It is believed that he was bitten by a bull shark or a tiger shark with local media reporting that swimmers nearby witnessed the terrifying attack.
